Our Ministry Teams
We’ve got lots going on for children and young people at St. Thomas Church—you can find out more about all the amazing things we do here. Most of our groups need more leaders, including our four Sunday morning groups, midweek groups like Tom’s Toddlers and Footprints, our Youth Cell group, and our Messy Church team.
Because of our commitment to safeguarding, we use a thorough Safer Recruitment policy for all groups which have contact with children and young people, including DBS Checking, and full safeguarding training, and an interview process before serving on a team. If you would like to be considered for these teams, please request an information pack for the role you are considering, via the office, and we will be in touch.
We think that hospitality is one of the greatest gifts anyone can offer, and we want to make sure everyone feels welcome at St. Thomas’.
We take pride in serving great quality, fair-trade tea and coffee in our church, but we need your help to do that.
If you would like to join our refreshments team, please sign yourself up—the rota is posted in the hatch. If you’ve not done it before, feel free to speak to a member of the welcome team, who will be happy to help you out.
We’re striving to be a welcoming church, so that everyone who walks through our doors not only gets a friendly welcome, but can quickly and easily become part of the family. If you’re interested in joining the team, we’d love to hear from you!
Do you fancy learning about our projection software and/or sound desk? Both are a key, but often overlooked part of our worship, and are both much easier to use than you probably think (we promise!).
We use both every Sunday, and regularly during the week, and are in desperate need of more people who know how to use them, so contact Andy to find out more about joining the team. Full training will be provided!
Prayer ministry is incredibly important to us at St. Thomas Church. We believe God uses prayer to transform and heal lives, so if you’re a follower of Jesus and are passionate about coming alongside people in prayer, you can be someone who makes a difference. We should all be involved in prayer ministry, whenever we hear of a need, something to give thanks for, sickness, or anything else which prayer can make a difference for, but to supplement this, we also have a dedicated prayer ministry team.
Given the sensitive nature of some prayer requests, and because of our commitment to safeguarding, we use a thorough Safer Recruitment policy for all groups which have the potential to come into contact with vulnerable people, and our designated prayer ministry team are covered by this policy. Our policy includes DBS Checking, and full safeguarding training, and an interview process before serving on a team. If you would like to be considered for these teams, please request an information pack for the role you are considering, via the office, and we will be in touch.
As followers of Jesus, we’re learning to worship Him with the whole of our lives, but we also believe it’s important to gather together weekly as a church family to worship Him as well. One of the main ways we express our worship when we gather together is through sung worship. If you’re passionate about praising God through song, and can sing or play an instrument, find out more about joining the worship team.
